That Sure Helps
It was "Ask the Pastor" Day in Sunday School, and the pastor stopped by the first grade department. There were a lot of questions, some of them thoughtful, some of them silly.
Just what you might expect from the typical group of first graders.
Then one bright fellow asked, "Did Jesus ever have to go to school?" The pastor replied, "Certainly. He grew up just like any other boy and had the same problems you have."
The little boy sighed. "Boy! That sure helps!"
Doesn't it? To know that He has experienced what we have, that He has walked through some dark valleys Himself, that He has been misunderstood, hated, used and even killed--helps us in what we face from day to day. Matthew Henry wrote, "The God of Israel, the Savior, is sometimes a God that hides Himself but never a God that is absent; sometimes in the dark, but never at a distance."
Amen. Thank you, Jesus.
