TEARS
Whenever you find tears in your eyes, especially unexpected tears, it is well to pay the closest attention. They are not only telling you something about the secret of who you are, but more often than not, God is speaking to you through them of the mystery of where you have come from and is summoning you to where, if your soul is to be saved, you should go next.

GOODBYE, FAITH! FAREWELL, HOPE!
As an aged Christian lay dying, a friend called to say farewell. “I have just had three other visitors,” said the dying man, “ and with two of them I parted; but the third I shall keep with me forever.”
“Who are they?”
“The first was Faith, and I said, ‘Goodbye, Faith! I thank God for your company ever since I first trusted Christ; but now I am going where faith is lost in sight.’
“Then came Hope. ‘Farewell, Hope!’ I cried. ‘You have helped me in many an hour of battle and distress; now I shall not need you, for I am going where hope passes into fruition.’
“Last of all came Love. ‘Love,’ said I, ‘you have indeed been my friend; you have linked me with God and with my fellowman; you have comforted and gladdened all my pilgrimage. But I cannot leave you behind; in death you must come with me through the gates, into the city of God, for love is forever and fully perfected in Heaven.”

GOD NEVER UNDERTOOK A FAILURE
God never undertook a failure. The Old Book, which is worth all other books put together, makes it plain that God has undertaken to regulate this world by gospel influences, and if He has the power, he will do what He says He will, and no one who amounts to anything will deny His power.
God has said a hundred times, “I will,” but never once has He said, “I cannot.”
We may, with our tack hammers, pound away, trying to mend and improve and straighten the condition of the world and be disappointed in the result because our arms are too weak and the hammers we wield too small; but the most defiant difficulty will flatten and disappear when God with a hammer made of summer thunderbolts strikes it, saying, “The crooked shall be made straight.”

CHARACTER-BUILDING MOMENTS
Leonard Sweet writes of being with environmentalist/gardener Marie Hull one day as they stood at her window watching what "appeared to be the beginnings of hummingbird wars. One hummer in particular was spending so much time and energy keeping other hummers away from the feeder Marie had set up, he had little time to feed himself. I was appalled! But Marie made me look closer. The hummers that were being driven away were much smaller and wobblier than the one I thought was 'protecting' his territory; in fact, they were babies in the midst of a very important lesson. In front of that window was not a hummingbird version of 'king-of-the-hill,' but a parent who was buzzing its newborns away from the plastic feeder and toward real flowers. Here was a father who did not want any of his children to become dependent on any artificial feeder, no matter how pretty.

"Isn't that what's happened to our society?” Sweet writes. “We've come so used to being 'fed on demand' through quick fixes … that we've forgotten it's the hard knocks in life, those character-building moments, that help us make it through with inner peace and joy intact.”

THE PRICE OF KIDS
The government recently calculated the cost of raising a child from birth to 18 and came up with $160,140 for a middle income family. Talk about sticker shock! That doesn't even touch college tuition. For those with kids, that figure leads to wild fantasies about all the money we could have banked if not for (insert your child's name here). For others, that number might confirm the decision to remain childless.
But $160,140 isn't so bad if you break it down. It translates into $8,896.66 a year, $741.38 a month, or $171.08 a week. That's a mere $24.44 a day! Just over a dollar an hour. Still, you might think the best financial advice says don't have children if you want to be "rich." It is just the opposite.
What do your get for your $160,140?
1. Naming rights. First, middle, and last!
2. Glimpses of God every day.
3. Giggles under the covers every night.
4. More love than your heart can hold.
5. Butterfly kisses and Velcro hugs.
6. Endless wonder over rocks, ants, clouds, and warm cookies.
7. A hand to hold, usually covered with jam.
8. A partner for blowing bubbles, flying kites, building sandcastles, and skipping down the sidewalk in the pouring rain.
9. Someone to laugh yourself silly with no matter what the boss said or how your stocks performed that day.
10. For $160,140, you never have to grow up.
11. You get to finger-paint, carve pumpkins, play hide-and-seek, catch lightning bugs, and never stop believing in Santa Claus.
12. You have an excuse to keep: reading the Adventures of Piglet and Pooh, watching Saturday morning cartoons, going to Disney movies, and wishing on stars.
13. You get to frame rainbows, hearts, and flowers under refrigerator magnets and collect spray painted noodle wreaths for Christmas, hand prints set in clay for Mother's Day, and cards with backward letters for Father's Day.
14. For $160,140, there is no greater bang for your buck. You get to be a hero just for retrieving a Frisbee off the garage roof, taking the training wheels off the bike, removing a splinter, filling the wading pool, coaxing a wad of gum out of bangs, and coaching a baseball team that never wins but always gets treated to ice cream regardless.
15. You get a front row seat to history to witness the first step, first word, first bra, first date, and first time behind the wheel.
16. You get to be immortal. You get another branch added to your family tree, and if you're lucky, a long list of limbs in your obituary called grandchildren.
17. You get an education in psychology, nursing, criminal justice, communications, and human sexuality that no college can match.
18. In the eyes of a child, you rank right up there with God.
19. You have all the power to heal a boo-boo, scare away the monsters under the bed, patch a broken heart, police a slumber party, ground them forever, and love them without limits, so one day they, like you, love without counting the cost.

I AM THANKING YOU RIGHT NOW
Dear God:
I want to thank You for what you have already done.
I am not going to wait until I see results or receive rewards; I am thanking you right now
I am not going to wait until I feel better or things look better; I am thanking you right now
I am not going to wait until people say they are sorry or until they stop talking about me; I am thanking you right now.
I am not going to wait until the pain in my body disappears; I am thanking you right now.
I am not going to wait until my financial situation improves; I am going to thank you right now.
I am not going to wait until the children are asleep and the house is quiet; I am going to thank you right now.
I am not going to wait until I get promoted at work or until I get the job; I am going to thank you right now.
I am not going to wait until I understand every experience in my life that has caused me pain or grief; I am going to thank you right now.
I am not going to wait until the journey gets easier or the challenges are removed. I am thanking you right now.
I am thanking you because I am alive.
I am thanking you because I made it through the day's difficulties.
I am thanking you because I have walked around the obstacles.
I am thanking you because I have the ability and the opportunity to do more and do better.
I'm thanking you because FATHER, YOU haven't given up on me.
God is just so good, and he's good all the time.

THE TRUTH NEVER CHANGES!
Summer vacation was over and the teacher was asking the class about their vacations. She turned to little Johnny and asked what he did over the break. "We visited my grandmother in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania," he replied.
"That sounds like an excellent vocabulary word," the teacher said. "Can you tell the class how you spell that?"
Little Johnny thought about it and said, "You know, come to think of it, we went to Ohio."
NOTE: in your preaching and teaching, remember that what is true today will be true tomorrow. You don’t have to change your story to suit tastes or convenience—nor should you!

HE IS
He is the First and Last, the Beginning and the End!
He is the keeper of Creation and the Creator of all!
He is the Architect of the universe and The Manager of all times.
He always was, He always is, and He always will be...
Unmoved, Unchanged, Undefeated, and never Undone!
He was bruised and brought healing!
He was pierced and eased pain!
He was persecuted and brought freedom!
He was dead and brought life!
He is risen and brings power!
He reigns and brings Peace!
The world can't understand him,
The armies can't defeat Him,
The schools can't explain Him, and
The leaders can't ignore Him.
Herod couldn't kill Him,
The Pharisees couldn't confuse Him, and
The people couldn't hold Him!
Nero couldn't crush Him,
Hitler couldn't silence Him,
The New Age can't replace Him, and
Donahue can't explain Him away!
He is light, love, longevity, and Lord.
He is goodness, Kindness, Gentleness, and God.
He is Holy, Righteous, mighty, powerful, and pure.
His ways are right,
His word is eternal,
His will is unchanging, and
His mind is on me.
He is my Redeemer,
He is my Savior,
He is my guide, and
He is my peace!
He is my Joy,
He is my comfort,
He is my Lord, and
He rules my life!
I serve Him because His bond is love,
His burden is light, and
His goal for me is abundant life.
I follow Him because He is the wisdom of the wise,
The power of the powerful,
The ancient of days, the ruler of rulers,
The leader of leaders, the overseer of the overcomers, and
The sovereign Lord of all that was and is and is to come.
And if that seems impressive to you, try this for size.
His goal is a relationship with ME!
He will never leave me,
Never forsake me,
Never mislead me,
Never forget me,
Never overlook me, and
Never cancel my appointment in His appointment book!
When I fall, He lifts me up!
When I fail, He forgives!
When I am weak, He is strong!
When I am lost, He is the way!
When I am afraid, He is my courage!
When I stumble, He steadies me!
When I am hurt, He heals me!
When I am broken, He mends me!
When I am blind, He leads me!
When I am hungry, He feeds me!
When I face trials, He is with me!
When I face persecution, He shields me!
When I face problems, He comforts me!
When I face loss, He provides for me!
When I face Death, He carries me Home!
He is everything for everybody, everywhere,
Every time, and every way.
He is God, He is faithful.
I am His, and He is mine!
My Father in heaven can whip the father of this world.
So, if you're wondering why I feel so secure, understand this...
He said it and that settles it.
God is in control, I am on His side, and
That means all is well with my soul.
Everyday is a blessing for GOD Is!

LIFE’S MAIN BUSINESS
Once you become aware that the main business that you are here for is to know God, most of life's problems fall into place of their own accord.
