The Pump-Priming Principle
When I was a small boy, our family often would drive out into the country where my father's family owned a farm. I was fascinated by the old farm house. Dad had worked hard to modernize that house, including adding the convenience of indoor plumbing.
For years, the house was supplied by an old, hand-operated pump by the back porch. To this day, I remember the groans which filled the air whenever the handle was worked up and down.
Dad showed me how to "prime" the pump by first pouring a little water in the top, so it would pull the water up from the well far below.
The "Pump-Priming Principle" says that ordinarily, great things do not just happen to us. We must be prepared--primed--before we can be receptive to the things God wants to do in our lives.
Occasionally, the "priming" even includes things that we would not have chosen for ourselves. But that's the only way the cool water of our souls can rise to the top.
God may be priming your life right now for something wonderful He's about to do for you!
