We Need Nothing Else

Sir Christopher Wren was commissioned to design the great Corn Market in Windsor, England. His frist design was rejected because it showed no pillars holding up the roof. He explained the pillars would not be needed, but the city fathers couldn't conceive of such a thing. They insisted that pillars should be added to the design.

Some time after the building was constructed, it was discovered that Sir Wren had won his argument after all. He had made each of the pillars one-half inch shorter than the roof. There they stand, but they serve no purpose, and the roof has never sagged.

We are the same way. If we live in Christ, we don't need the many things we use as pillars to support our lives. Our support is dependent on the basic structure and nature of our relationships with Christ. Paul wrote in 2 Corinthianns 3:5, "...our sufficiency is of God" (KJV).

C. S. Lewis wrote, "He who has God and many other things, has no more than he who has God alone."

What do you need?
