WHATEVER YOU HAVE, WHATEVER YOU CAN DO
I may not sing like a bird, but I can make a noise like a crow! What can God do with a voice of a crow? He can make it sound like the voice of an angel if he wants to and use my feeble ability to reach into the heart of a man or woman and draw them to Christ.

I am not a great artist, but God take my feeble talent and break it in pieces and use it to win souls. I’ve seen a lot of “art” that I know I could have drawn much better, but God still used it in Sunday School classes for little kids to teach them the Word of God.

I am not a great cook, but God can take even a cornbread and a boiled egg and use it to reach someone who is hungry.

Whatever you have, whoever you are, whatever you can do, no matter how small it may seem in your eyes and in the eyes of the world, it can be used to perform a miracle if we surrender it into the hands of the Lord.

BEGIN YOUR PRAYER WITH “WOW!”
Mount Palomar is located in San Diego County, California. The building with the 1000-ton rotating dome houses the 14.5-ton, 200-inch Hale Telescope. It is owned by the California Institute of Technology. The official website, in case you want to read more, is
http://www.astro.caltech.edu/observatories/palomar/

An excerpt from that website:
“The scope of this work ranges from studies of asteroids and comets within the solar system, to the stars that comprise our Milky Way Galaxy, out to the uncounted galaxies beyond our own, and finally to the quasars -- beacons in the universe so distant that the light collected from them with the Palomar telescopes has been billions of years in transit to the Earth.”

Ron Hutchcraft, in his book “Start Your Trip with a Full Tank” (Baker: 1996, p. 75) writes:

“At Mount Palomar, they will tell you they have discovered 100 billion galaxies. Prayer is consciously entering the throne room from which 100 billion galaxies are governed. Wow! Do you know whom you are with when you pray? Do you know where you are? It will change how you pray. Prayer will never again be boring or mundane. You will pray humbly, deeply, dependently, understanding whom you are with, laying aside your little powerless power for His unlimited power. You will pray boldly.

“When you pray to this God, knowing that you are in the throne room, pray for supernatural things that only God could do. God-sized things. Pray passionately, overwhelmed not by your problem but by God’s majesty and love. The One who is totally in charge is totally committed to you. When you pray, make sure you consciously enter the throne room from which the galaxies are governed. Maybe the first word we ought to say when we pray is ‘Wow!’ ”

REMEMBER THIS WHEN YOU ARE UNJUSTLY CRITICIZED
The new book was called vulgar and barbarous. Critics mocked the work in both the United States and England.

The author was ambitious, vain, and intensely patriotic. He felt that America must be as independent in literature as she was in politics.

His highly criticized book was not written lightly or carelessly. He studied twenty-six languages in preparation for his literary masterpiece. He traveled widely through all the American states, listening to what people said and how they said it. He made notes of all he heard, speaking with frontiersmen as well as cultured businessmen. He gave a total of twenty- eight years to the preparation and writing of this one book. His authorly ideals were high, for he expected this one book to forge the America of the early nineteenth century into one committed body of citizens. He really expected that his one work might forever bind Americans to one another inseparably.

When the book was published in 1828 and met with initial hostility and criticism, in no way was the author dissuaded from his big dreams for the book.

Its dream was right. His book did famously link us to each other.

Millions of copies have been printed. Lexicographer Noah Webster wrote “An American  Dictionary of English Language,” and his vulgar  book made it big.

KIDS OUT OF CONTROL?
Whenever your kids are out of control, you can take comfort from the thought that even God's omnipotence did not extend to his kids.

After creating heaven and earth, God created Adam and Eve.  And the first thing God said to them was:  "Don't."  "Don't what?"  Adam asked.

"Don't eat the forbidden fruit," said God.

"Forbidden fruit?  Really?  Where is it?"  Adam and Eve asked, jumping  up and down excitedly.

"It's over there," said God, wondering why he hadn't stopped after making the elephants.

A few minutes later God saw the kids having an apple break and he was very angry. "Didn't I tell you not to eat that fruit?"  the First Parent asked.

"Uh huh," Adam replied. "Then why did you do it?"  God asked exasperatedly.

"I dunno," Adam answered.

God's punishment was that Adam and Eve should have children of their own.  Thus the pattern was set and it has never changed.  But there is a reassurance in this story.  If you have persistently and lovingly tried to give your children wisdom and they haven't taken it, don't be so hard on yourself.  If God had trouble handling his children, what makes you think it should be a piece of cake for you?

THE SCARLET MANTLE
And today, if my eye of faith be dim, and I can scarce see the precious blood, so as to rejoice that I am washed in it, yet God can see the blood, and as long as the undimmed eye of Jehovah looks upon the atoning sacrifice of the Lord Jesus, He cannot smite one soul covered in the scarlet mantle.

SEEING RED (humor)
Velma and Debbie were out driving in a large car, both could barely see over the dashboard. As they were cruising along they came to an intersection. The stoplight was red but they just went on through.

Velma, who was in the passenger seat, thought to herself, "I must be losing my mind! I swear we just went through a red light."

After a few more minutes they came to another intersection and the light was red again, and again they went right through. This time Velma was almost sure that the light had been red, but was really concerned that she was mistaken.

She was getting nervous and decided to pay very close attention to the road and the next intersection to see what was going on.

At the next intersection, sure enough, the light was definitely red and they went right through. She turned to the woman driving and said, "Debbie! Did you know we just ran through three red lights in a row! You could have killed us!"

Debbie turned to her and said, "Oh, am I driving?"

THIS HAS A SPIRITUAL APPLICATION, TOO
Even in the winter, even in the midst of the storm, the sun is still there. Somewhere, up above the clouds, it still shines and warms and pulls at the life buried deep inside the brown branches and frozen earth. The sun is there! Spring will come! The clouds cannot stay forever.
