Stuck Upside Down?

By now you’ve certainly heard of the incident at a Hot Springs, Arkansas, amusement park, June 10, 2007, when power was interrupted to the X-Coaster. A dozen riders were left suspended at the very top of the roller coaster ride, hanging upside down 150 feet above the ground. They hung there for 35 minutes until rescuers could get them down.

I don’t care for roller coaster rides, but I know the feeling of hanging upside down, so to speak, helpless to do anything to change the situation. And it’s very likely that at some point you have felt just like that, too. Life sometimes takes a turn we didn’t expect, and there we are, suspended in space and time, and we wonder when someone is coming to our aid.

During those times it’s important that we remember where our help comes from: “I lift up my eyes to the hills---where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth” (Psalm 121:1-2, NIV)
